I love nachos and it is often something I order when I eat Mexican food. We also like to make it at home. It is an easy way to use up leftovers from tacos earlier in the week or to throw together on a Friday night to eat while watching a movie.
I put the nachos in our toaster oven just long enough for the cheese to melt. Cook your meat before putting them on the nachos. Then we just eat straight out of the pan!
Just Ingredients Nachos
-Tortilla chips
-Chicken or ground turkey
-Vegetables: tomatoes, corn, onion, bell peppers, and sometimes I top the cooked nachos with some shredded lettuce {you can also ask restaurants for a side of lettuce to add to your nachos as well...makes it a bit more like a salad and increases the veggie content}
-Black beans or refried beans
-Fresh herbs: cilantro and garlic
-Salsa
-Cheese!
*I layer chips and toppings and then chips again and more toppings so that each chip gets fully covered with deliciousness. Depending on how wet your ingredients are and how long you let it cook, sometimes the chips get soggy, so you can even do a small layer of chips and serve chips on the side to dip into. But I find by evenly layering everything allows the chips to be exposed to the heat and crisp up.
Do you make homemade nachos?
