We celebrated our daughter's sixth birthday with a mermaid themed party. She helped pick out the theme and it was so fun for me to put together. Our sparkly sweet mermaid girl had the best day and it was such a joy to celebrate her!
I took to Meri Meri for inspiration for the mermaid and sea details. I added in these reusable sea shell dishes I bought to use for the summer. My mom had a bunch of large beautiful shells that we were able to use that added some natural elements. And then I scoured Pinterest for some simple but fun ideas. I made up some DIY shell wands, hung floating balloons to look like we were underwater, and pulled out the bubble machine for a fun under the sea dance party!

For the wands I hot glued starfish shells onto dowels and tied on some ribbon.
The frosting didn't look as great as I had hoped and then I realized I could cover it up with some shells! A happy mistake turned into a lovely detail.
We pulled out all of my daughter's mermaid stuffed animals as additional party guests! This mermaid and this one are my favorites.
And her sweet collection of Aurora mermaids she has picked out on our trips to the beach over the years.
We always get donuts for our birthday party day breakfast. Brent took a mermaid plate with him so he could match the donuts to the party! I have trained him so well. :)
Balloons, yummy food, and presents make for a pretty fantastic day!
I picked out this beautiful little sequin mermaid skirt for her and this cute simple shirt from Target to go with it. She loved her party outfit and the skirt gets to be added to our dress up collection.
Filling the house with bubbles made for an extra special birthday dance party!
I love having the kids sit on the coffee table to take a picture with their cake so the decorations can be in the background. In planning my three year olds birthday, he asked if he would be able to sit on the coffee table with his cake! It is the littlest traditions that make the day feel special. I love that the simple act of sitting somewhere different on their birthday can bring happy memories. We will see if they still want to sit on the table when they are 16!
Pink and blue unicorn ice cream only seemed fitting for such a party! It was so festive and fun.
Another birthday down always feels bittersweet. These kiddos sure do grow up quickly. But these celebratory milestones are so special and fun. It is a joy to celebrate them.
What a beautiful party! :) So many magical details.
