Classic country style is almost universally appealing, especially when it's pulled off with panache. Your dream family home is warm and welcoming and lovingly lived in. Whether consciously or instinctively, you're working at pulling together rooms around key pieces, matching or complementing pattern and colour so as not to overwhelm the viewer.
Between my love of Iris' cottage from the movie, The Holiday, and the beautiful eye candy of Anthropologie, I'd have to agree I strive after comfy cottage. Natural elements, light colors, inviting fabrics, feminine flowers and pops of color...Snug without being overbearing, home is where the hearth is.
...um, yes please...

I like your style, but the test said I am a home-coming queen. This was fun! I am going to explore it a bit more and than post about my style. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteMy style is comfy country too!
ReplyDeleteI love the cottage from The Holiday too.
ReplyDeleteIt was so funny that you mentioned you love Iris' cottage in the Holiday, because so do I. I went to the movie alone...(I do that. I know weird) when she walked up to that cottage I gasped OUT LOUD!! I love it. I thought she got the better end of the deal staying in that cottage!
ReplyDeleteI haven't taken the quiz, but I think my home is whatever I have and is easy and cheap. HAHAHAHHAHA
Have a good day.

I too rated comfy country... Birds of a feather...
ReplyDeleteIt said comfy country for me, too...I think it meant that I aspire to be comfy country. Right now, I feel like "bachlor pad disarray and chaos". {chuckle...sniff...cry}
ReplyDelete;)
If that's photos of your home...can I come live with you? Or have you just do my home for me?
Ooohhhhhhh...that picture of the sewing table and dress form is AMAZING! And who didn't LOVE the cottage from The Holiday? I'm off to take the quiz...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Iris's cottage too! I hope I'm comfy cottage! My mom and sister, the decorating experts in my life, told me I was cottage...now I just have to get comfy!
ReplyDeleteI am Family Favorites. It said "Your home is polished but practical, elegant but easy to live with." Fun Quiz!
ReplyDeleteI got Comfy Country too. I was a little freaked out by "country" at first b/c it brought to mind memories of the wooden painted geese my mom had in the kitchen in the 80s. ;) But the pictures you posted look just right...and I LOVED all the houses in The Holiday (great movie!!). :) (and yes, my "model" is usually happy if I bribe her with something) :)
ReplyDeleteI think I aspire to the comfy country... so, peaceful and relaxing and luxurious all in one.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Comfy Country style. It's so chic and lovely!!
ReplyDeleteI am curious to see what my style is now.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't get called to sub next week, you can come paint my dresser. And, then visit the school and see firsthand the microwave where I do my magic.
I love that quiz! I am a mixture, I take it often to see if the results change! They do slightly, but generally they stay pretty consistent!
ReplyDeleteLovin' your blog!

I just love that fireplace! I also loved that movie The Holiday just for the English cottage in the movie. Wouldn't you just love to live there?
ReplyDeleteOh that was fun! I am Classic Country. :)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the quiz link. That was fun!
Oh so fun catching up over here. I'm with you and everyone else. In LOVE with Iris' Cottage. Over here we are also in love with the charming little house that Nicole Kidman lives in, in Bewitched.
