I have been in search of shutters for quite some time now and finally found some. They are pure love. There is something about the hunt of a thrifted item that makes my heart swoon. Finding that gold nugget hidden away waiting for you to come swipe it up. Yet another reason why I love the thrift store and white spray paint. Do you have an item you have been hunting for?

A bigger item, yes. A corner cabinet for my dining room. I just took shutters down from the windows flanking my fireplace. I wasn't planning to put them back up. Maybe I'll use them for something else now.
ReplyDeleteI was hunting for a boling chair for my desk... whew! after months I finally found one at a thrift shop for only $10. I love it!
ReplyDeleteRight now we are on the hunt for a coffee table that can take a beating from the little guy. But I'm always on the hunt for a cloche...but I can never find them :(
ReplyDeleteI'm not a very good thrifter - the thrill of the hunt is still there though. I just have three kiddos that aren't as patient at stores as I could be. I do think white paint is the best!
ReplyDeleteYES! I have a whole list. :) Looking for items in a thrift store really teaches you patience b/c you have to wait to find just what you were looking for. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, I do. Used to have a mental list, but I forgotten most of the items (old age). I am going to keep a notebook in my purse to keep a list safe. I'm glad you found the shutters because they look great. Right now, I just have yarn scraps on my list.
ReplyDeletei love your hutch!! i am on the lookout for a set of bowls that will match my new (thrifted) blue/aqua ones, so i can stop using the mismatched 70s stuff my mom gave me. also ALWAYS looking for lidded cobalt storage jars, and cool victorian picture frames to put big mirrors in... alas, i rarely find them!
ReplyDeleteOh heck yah! I love how those turned out. I still need your address so I can do a B&E, clean your place out and decorate mine something fab. :)
ReplyDeleteYa know what, honestly I have never seen shutters in decorating that I loved until I saw yours. Seriously, I love that vingette you did! Super super cute. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm way on the hunt for armoires/cupboards, crocks, white pitchers and cake plates, lamps and fruit jars (like Mason, Ball and Crown). So many things. :) Too bad the thrift stores and online selling auctions are always so overpriced here. Ugh. Dying for yardsale season!
I love how you used the shutters on the wall. Very clever and very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love decorating with shutters too and really like the way you have yours hung up high over that cabinet. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteI am looking for a hutch for my kitchen. One with glass doors with be great. Yard sale season is coming here in Maine and I CAN'T WAIT!!!
ReplyDeleteI want some shutters to use as display racks for my hair accessories at craft shows!!! 'Tis the season!
ReplyDeleteHow timely-I just recently purchased a shutter just like yours at the Habitat Restore, for $3. I had also been looking for one to hang in front of an odd window that needed slight privacy, but provides great light. works perfectly, and I decided not to spray it-I'm loving the "shabby" look!
ReplyDeleteThe shutters look great, Ashley. I have been on the hunt for a dresser/armoire/hutch to use as a changing table with no luck but now I think my husband is going to build one! Fun! Kelly

ReplyDeleteI recently was on the search for shutters myself to cover an entire wall. I found a lot at my Habitat for Humanity Thrift Shop and by posting a want ad on Craigslist.
