I put together some aprons for a couple of recent birthday gifts. I like fast projects that do not require a whole lot of sewing or planning. 
I search thrift stores for pillowcases and kitchen towels in fun patterns. The gut-work is done and all I have to do is add some trimming. A very eco-friendly as well as economical project. 
I even found these cute little tags at the fabric store to personalize my projects.
