Let me start off by saying painting the walls in my home has been a long awaited process. It took a lot of courage and more time than I wanted. But I did it. I painted the smallest room in the house. Unfortunately I do not love it. It was what I was afraid of. I would take the time only to be disappointed. Now don’t get me wrong, I realize it looks very nice and really updates the room. But it is not the right shade of blue. I want it more gray but I used a can of free Valspar paint I got probably a year ago and apparently my choice of blue has changed. So I will paint it again, not any time soon. But when I can pull myself to get the courage again, I will give it a try. Trial and error as I always say so I guess I should start taking my own advice. On that note…
Before pictures:After photos: I switched out the mirrors from another room in the house. The rectangle one seemed to fill the wall better. A fresh coat of paint. Some shabby sanding. And new knobs (from Ross). A frame around the potty sign fills in this large wall well. A new thrifted flower hangs on the wall. How have your experienced decorator’s disappointment?
I really like the new color! That stinks that you don't love it. I've done that plenty of times - in much bigger rooms! =( I spent a whole day painting our formal living area only to decide the color was too dark. Of course, it's still too dark today as I'm not about to do it all again! Ha! Learn to love the painting. Listen to podcasts or music and enjoy the time. I'd do it more if I didn't have such little ones running through the house. =)
ReplyDeleteYea for pretty blue!
The color looks real good. It's soft and cool like. I like it. It looks like a nice change from what it was before.
ReplyDeleteI like it!!!! Very soft and pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteAshley! It looks really great to me, but I understand what you mean. I think it always takes me a week to get used to a new color. Then I have to look at it constantly each day to convince myself I don't need to paint again! I like your new look! Ann
ReplyDeleteI think it looks so pretty! I love the new mirror in there. I know what you mean though, I've done that myself!
ReplyDeleteIt looks nice in the pictures. What did you do with the old mirror? I've been looking for something just like that for my girls' room.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you don't love it. I have so been there but my motto is, "It's paint. I can always paint over it if I don't like it"
ReplyDeleteI actually am weird and LOVE to paint. My husband doesn't really love that about me...
I really do love it and the cabinets are so much more updated and I love the rectangle mirror def better space wise. You did good girl!
bummer. i'm sorry. i think it looks lovely though. I have been thinking about paint a lot lately too. I have always lived in apts. and when we finally get into a house and can paint I wonder how I'm going to choose colors. I like to change things around a lot. It seems scary to pick a color. :) We'll see . . . Kelly
ReplyDeletei think its a lovely bathroom decor, i really like the lovely things that you have put in the bathroom from towel to little jars and bottles, the make the decor so pretty
ReplyDeleteI really like the color, actually. And it looks like you did a great job. I have the exact same problem with our family room. I wanted a soft grayish-blue, but somehow at the last minute ended up convinced that a darker blue might look better. So wrong! I just don't have the energy to do it all over again! Not for a while anyway...
ReplyDeleteI really regret having my dancing pole in the living room. People always asks me to demonstrate how to use it and then they feel weird and uncomfortable in front of me.

hehehe
Gotcha.
It's just paint (and BTW I do love that color) I think the biggest mistake was NOT painting over the brick-red color that I had in my old house. The previous owners left me that little gem and I never changed it to something more my taste.
