Over the last month I have finally painted many of the walls in our home. As a result, my holiday decor needs to change a bit as well. Somehow Halloween orange just does not have the same impact when you do not have beige walls. I realize this is rather picky, but now that the house is less cluttered, I want my holiday decor to accent the existing items. Somehow when you have less stuff, jamming every corner with pumpkins and candy corn seems less exciting. So here is a peak into my simple, greyer, fall decor… Spooky cards and wicked witch book from the Bella Vista Craft Fair (for you local Sac readers). Skull found at the Salvation Army. I love this new buzzard I found this year, also at the Bella Vista Craft Fair. He is so unique. The crafter that made this had all sorts of dirty brown textures…think Nightmare Before Christmas. But I didn’t dare bring my camera to the craft fair…they are even more possessive of their ideas… Skulls from the Dollar Tree last year… Monogrammed white pumpkins from our wedding last year… Pumpkins being weighed on my vintage scale. These are probably really the only orange I kept out this year. Putting them in a cluster together seemed more fitting than spreading them around. A simple table centerpiece…the big pumpkin holds it’s own… Just a little bit of candy…I usually would have jars filled with candy corn and such but this year we don’t need the calories or the waste of money… Turkey comes out as well… Another BV craft fair find from last year… A pumpkin candle in the bathroom… I put some of my fall gourds and corn outside on the porch… It is not super orange, but I like it. The house still says welcome fall but also flows with the rest of the house.
Decorating is hard work!
