I painted the dinning room. And I love it. And we got a free couch and love seat from my parent’s neighbors. It is so fancy and classy. I am once again in love. And all I can say is when people start finding out that you will take anything for free, word gets around. And if one day you score something as fancy as this, then you know your have arrived at successful frugality. After days of rearranging, I settled on pretty close to my original setup. It was hard…with paint, I expected to have a whole new room. And though it is new, it is still the same. And that is okay, because what it was before was beautiful. I think I am so used to seeing other people’s total transformations that it was a little disappointing to not have the same shock value. But I am realizing that I was not going for total transformation but instead just a different paint color. And once I grasped that, I could finally enjoy it. I have been decluttering a bit. This summer I went through and found stuff I did not want and sold it at our yard sale. This time I am going through and finding stuff we do not need. I like how it feels less cluttered and more open. Again, very stretching to let go and have less. I love stuff. I still need to pick up one more frame to finish this wall. But we are on a serious spending hold so it will have to wait. And after looking at these pictures I am realizing my measuring of the frame on the left is very off. And the tags are still on the lamps. I wanted to be totally sure first. Found them on clearance at Target. And the light bulbs are different. The wall color is:
Glidden Granite Grey GLN59
Love it! And it fits in perfectly too!

ReplyDeleteThis room kind of reminds me of Alice In Wonderland, particularly the Mad Hatter (your tea cabinet) it's got that great whimsical vibe. I usually get the hives if things in my house aren't perfectly matchy-matchy but your house definitely is inspiring me to try something new!
ReplyDeleteOh & I love your free couch! Lucky!

ReplyDeleteAshley! I was just browsing through blogs while talking on the phone and just now realized that I was on YOUR blog and this was YOUR living room! It's beautiful!!! I love how you've simplified and pared things down and the color of the walls! Awesome. (Love the bathroom soap quote too.)
