Deceptively Delicious :: Spaghetti and Meatballs

I was a little skeptical of this week’s Deceptively Delicious recipe.  I wasn’t sure if the squash puree would take away the good turkey meatball flavor, but I was wrong.  It was really good!  And didn’t taste veggie-meatball-ish.

I did make a few adjustments to the tomato sauce {with carrot puree}.  I added some Italian seasoning and Splenda to give it a little more punch of flavor.  Whenever I make adjustments to recipes I make sure to write it in my cookbook to remember later.  I love that my cookbooks feel used…plus it reminds me of which recipes I have already tried.

What is your favorite type of meat do you combine with spaghetti?  We are usually chicken people but I also love meatballs when I have the time to prepare them!

  1. uhm...you are convincing me that I need to get this book, with two of us on a diet, a teenager and a growing toddler I need all the help creating healthy meals. You are such a Suzie homemaker =)

  2. I usually do lean ground beef in our spaghetti sauce. I like Ragu b/c it has less sugar in it. I'm hoping to make my own sauce again this summer if we can get the tomatoes in!!! :) Yours looks yummy!
