10 Inspiring Ideas for Christmas

10 inspiring ideas for Christmas

Today I am joining Marianne and Angela in sharing some Christmas inspiration for this season.  Some are my own ideas and others are of things I am loving this year.  My focus is on fun Christmas activities that surround around relationships and memory making.  It doesn't have to be fancy but instead thoughtful with the intentions of enjoying this season with the ones you love.

1. I am loving the simplicity of green wreaths and cuttings around the house.  Definitely something I would like to incorporate into my home this year.  It makes the home feel warm and decorated without being over the top.

2. Making gingerbread houses never gets old!  Every year I get together with some girls I mentored when they were in junior high to make graham cracker gingerbread houses and catch up on their lives at college.

3. I love the playfulness of this wreath and antlers setup.  Perfect for little hands to be able to touch safely but still chic enough for me!  Now that my nephew is getting older I want to have some Christmas decor he is encouraged to play with!

4. My husband and I look forward to hosting a Holiday Dessert Party every year.  Each guest brings a dessert to get voted on by the guests and someone goes home as the reigning champion for that year.  A little fun competition makes for a really fun party that our friends and family look forward to each year.

5. On a budget?  Aren't we all!  Well, I love the idea of reusing things you already have to embellish gifts and add as decor.  These gift tags were made from Trader Joe's grocery bags!  How smart is that!

6. I like to add an ornament to our tree each year representing something special that happened.  Last year we started our photography business so a DSLR ornament seemed appropriate.

7. While it is just my husband and I in our little family so far, we spend Christmas day with both sides of our family.  On Christmas Eve we have set aside the day for just the two of us.  The day starts with some holiday inspired pancakes and is followed by present opening and dinner.  It is a special time for my husband and I to enjoy the season together.

8. When in doubt, add lights.  Something as simple and inexpenisve as stringing lights will create that perfect winter glow.  Don't just string them on your tree, hang them in unexpected places like on a mirror to add a little warmth anywhere in your house!

9. If you are overwhelmed with your Christmas list, I have a simple and delicious way to share some cheer with your neighbors and co-workers.  Every year I make chocolate chip zuchinni bread wrapped up in a simple paper bag with a {free printable} Christmas card.

Holiday Link Up Party

Hop on over to Songbird to check out some more Christmas inspiration and add a few of your own!

Today kicks off a fun batch of Christmas link up parties put together by Angela from Cottage Magpie.  She rounded up some of my favorite creative bloggers, along with myself, to host a holiday inspired link up party every Saturday until Christmas.  Can I just say how thrilled I am to see my face alongside some amazing and talented women!  It is going to be a great month of Christmas fun!

Angela will also be blogging all month about Christmas but with a heart of the season...family, community, and sharing this beautiful season with others.  That is right up our alley, right?!  Be sure to visit her blog to be inspired!

I hope you will join me on December 8th to share about your favorite holiday recipes!  I will be sharing one of my desserts I made this year for Thanksgiving as well as a round up of my favorite recipes perfect for the holidays from years past!
