I recently rearranged a few things in our living room to compensate for a couple new items I picked up. The first new item is this great mirror I found on clearance at Ross. I wanted something big and a bit more modern to go over our couch and I think it's just what I was looking for!
Previously it was a hodge podge gallery wall and I am happy to have it a little more simplified. The mirror looked vacant all on it's lonesome so I gathered a few items to fill around our side tables.
I picked up a couple of gold frames that were also on clearance. You can get a glimpse of the other three in our dining room on my last craft day post.
The one in our living room frames my first piece of purchased art. I know, can you believe it...I have never bought art before!? I feel pretty special and a bit grown up. This scene was hand painted and picked up in Puerto Vallarta on our three year wedding anniversary trip (something I have yet to blog about but working on it!). I love how the colors look in the gold frame and am excited to start collecting meaningful art pieces of places we travel to.
The second big piece that brought on rearranging our living room is this lovely blue chair I picked up on the side of the road. It is a big chair and took some creative working to fit it in with it's magenta twin (You can also see the reflection of it in one of the photos above in the reflection of the mirror. The two chairs now flank down our TV and buffet).
The blanket on the chair we also picked up in Puerto Vallarta and the stumps were dragged home from a recent hike. The stumps have worked really well with my Christmas decor so be on the look out for those soon as well!
I switched a few frames on our "love story" gallery wall. It still holds most of the same photos I had up there before but I switched out a couple of the frames so that they were mostly white.
The combination of white and gold makes this dark wall just a tad bit lighter.
We have yet to move the TV on the wall so that it is centered with the couch and mirror. I also hope to pick up a few white frames to finish the wall off.
You can get a little sneak peek in the mirror--along with the random bust that has no home at this point and our Wii console! But I am loving the modern and simple feel of this room and will share how our TV wall turns out when I am done!
