Tissue paper is a great versatile and inexpensive medium for making party decorations. For my birthday party this year I used tissue paper to make a fringe banner to hang on our outdoor lights as well as a few tassel banners to use for decoration. Plus it only cost me $2 for two packs of colored tissue paper to create all of my tissue paper decor!
This tissue paper fringe banner is quite possibly one of the easiest things ever. I am not even sure a tutorial is necessary. Though sometimes a good visual spurs on inspiration so we will go with that intention.
First line up your tissue paper so that it is even. Then fold in half.
Now fold together into thirds.
Cut down folded edges.
You now have a stack of almost exactly cut tissue paper. Clip together to keep in place.
Cut straight lines up until about 1/2 inch from the folded top.
Keep cutting until it looks like you have a tissue paper jelly fish.
If you are making yours into a banner, you could then glue them onto a piece of string.
Since ours were hung on our outdoor lights, we placed each one over the chord and then stapled it down so it wouldn't blow away in the wind.
My next project was to make tissue paper tassel garlands. I used my paper cutter to cut strips in mass.
