What's In My Picnic Basket

Carrying on with my what's in my bag series, today I am sharing what is in my picnic basket.  A few years ago I traded in my traditional woven basket for an insulated picnic tote.

I found this one in a cute little boutique while in San Luis Obispo.  My mother in law later ordered it for me off of Amazon for my birthday.  It is a bit pricey for a picnic basket but it is really well made.  Plus we use it a ton and is our go to cooler whenever we go on road trips or day trips.

It comes with plates and utensils for two as well as a wood cutting board.  It comes with little goblets but I ended up trading them out for these slightly fancier plastic glasses that I already had and loved.

Inside the tote comes with a removable insulated sleeve as well as two separate spots for holding bottled beverages.

I ordered separately a matching blanket as well.  It folds up nice and small and is the blanket I keep on hand in the car.  I love that it matches.  The whole Picnic Time line comes with all sorts of matching sets if you aren't as in love with the traditional tartan pattern as I am!

What do we usually pack on our picnics?  We love cheese, crackers, salami, chocolate, and sparkling cider.  On most weekend trips or day trips I pack us one lunch style picnic.  This saves us from spending extra money on lunch (save it for a nice dinner!) plus gives us an excuse to stage a romantic picnic while exploring somewhere new.

So in case you need proof that we use this picnic basket a lot, here are a few photos from some of our trips where we used it.  Much cuter than a traditional cooler in my opinion!
